Podcasts and the Future

The real value of the Commitment of Traders or COT Report for silver traders, (as Ted Butler, GATA, and others have been pointing out for years) lies in revealing the marked concentration of short silver futures positions held by the major bullion banks, who are classed as commercial traders.

Some observers predict that the Commodities Futures Trading Commission or CFTC will eventually simply hide this data or even change the classification like they have done in the past.

Of course, this would probably only serve to destroy confidence in the silver futures market once and for all.

The Issues for Silver Longs

For the long holder, the concentration of shorts is the main issue, and not simply:

Banks hedging positions in the futures market against client business that leaves them long. Yes, banks typically have little choice but to cover long positions with short positions for risk management purposes, as well as for the sake of earning a profit to provide shareholders with value. Swaps. Dealers' positions being taken on or off or played both ways. No limits on positions.

These details simply detract from the core issue of market manipulation and lend credence or play into to the conspiracy phobia prompted by the mainstream media.

Most traders can use the COT Report to observe changes in positioning without worrying about the concentration structure. This could explain why the CFTC remains silent about this key issue, and why the CFTC has not done away with or dramatically altered the COT Report to hide it.

Effectively, there are only a few large commercial traders (i.e. bullion banks) selling silver futures against a huge variety of longs.

No Great Conspiracy?

This manipulation may be easier to see when looked at from the perspective of an attempted long market corner. Who cares what the Hunts were doing with the other side of their long position? The issue for regulators was the Hunts' concentrated long position.

In this case, the real pink elephant on the couch, which shows up clearly in the COT data put out by the CFTC, is that the majority of the outstanding short position in silver futures is held by only one or two commercial traders.

Nevertheless, somehow 'hedging' - which is another word often thrown around loosely (like conspiracy) by mainstream media - makes this concentration 'okay'.

Yet when two large shorts hold 60 percent of the entire sell side of a relatively thin market against a whole crowd of diverse longs, something questionable is definitely going on. The Hunts were chastised and persecuted for doing this on the long side, so why not the heavily short bullion banks?

Can you imagine if oil or copper had the same market commitment profile or IBM for that matter? Sure, there may be naked shorts in those markets, but the shorts are as diverse as the longs, which is how things should be in a fair and balanced market.

It really does not matter if those two heavily short entities are hedged elsewhere. The illegal and immoral concentration of positions still exists in the silver market.

The Confidence Question

Not only does this concentration create an artificially depressed price reality for silver, but it also prevents the investing public from noticing an otherwise healthy way of avoiding wealth destruction by using silver as a non-paper inflation hedge.

Additional dangers of this concentration include:

Big shorts throwing caution to the wind. Shorting is a treacherous game that has potentially unlimited losses. Who else but the big banks could afford to take this kind of risk?

Of course, the real danger here is the unlimited down side risk inherent in short positions potentially triggering a daisy-chain of derivatives-led bank failures. This risk scenario could result in a much bigger systemic problem that would send shock waves reverberating throughout the already fragile world financial system.

Failing for Dollars...

It was in 1996 that I plunged into a side business. I had no background, and little training. And of course, it became a failure.

But I learned that "it" was not the one that failed. It was "me" who failed. Those were tough words to own up to.

I watched others who knew exactly what they were doing. And I asked myself:

"What does it take to become successful like them? Why wasn't I blessed with their talents? How do I earn that kind of money?"

I had to admit--I was clueless.

Then one side business led to another, which led to more failures. It wasn't the failures that disturbed me as much as not knowing why I failed.

Then I was introduced to self-development: getting coached from success leaders who walked their talk. I must confess--I wasn't a big fan. I hadn't picked up any books since college, and "reading" was no longer in my vocabulary.

But I highly respected my friend who introduced me. He said, "Listen to these tapes and tell me what you think."

It's because of those circumstances that I'm writing you today. You see, I had chosen my vision and was living it. Little did I know--it was a tiny one.

My job paid well, but I became braindead. My mind turned into mush. The repetitive patterns subdued my right-brain creativity. Or more accurately, it testifed I had little brainwave activity to begin with.

I devoured the books and tapes, took on a few mentors, and became a serious student. But this time, I chose my faculty and my courses. I didn't have to pick from a limited school list.

I played tapes while driving to work, read books during my breaks, and booked flights to attend seminars. I learned to invest in myself, break bad habits, and change course. I have to admit--change isn't fun. Just necessary.

So I traded my tiny vision for a larger one. I knew I had found my calling. A calling I couldn't see before.

And I bet you have a larger vision than the one you're living.

You have dreams and goals that have been latent for years. You know it's easier going lateral than vertical. And you have layers of hidden fears... of failure... and success.

Which is why I'm writing you...

I have been where you are now. I have struggled with the same stuff you do. And I have transformed from a person who didn't believe in myself, to a person who helps people strenthen theirs.

So I have to ask, "What are you failing at lately?"

If you're not failing at all--you may not be trying very hard. You're comfortable in your comfort zone. You're guilty of taking baby steps and not venturing from the crib.

Which means your one-year goal has now become a seven-year goal. The Mercedes you wanted doesn't come in your color. And of course, it's childish to show up the Joneses.

Hogwash!

Failing is part of the success equation. Everyone fails. But only those who get back up have a real chance at reaping the rewards.

Please don't make failure your goal, but picture it as the ultimate teacher. Once you've gone through it, sort it inside a folder. Just like this e-zine.

So don't treat failure as an enemy or something to avoid. It will come. The secret is not giving up at the first sign of disappointment. Keep focused on your goals and you'll learn to leverage failure to your advantage.

Acrylic Paint Art

Acrylic paint is made from pigment mixed together with an acrylic polymer to form a relatively thick paint emulsion. Acrylic art is a plastic paint. It is a new entrant to the art scene when compared to other art paints - it was first used in the 1950s. But despite its late introduction, acrylic has certain distinct qualities that make it the preferred choice for a number of artists.

Some artists prefer acrylic art work because of the 'oil painting' finish that acrylic paint provides. To achieve this glossy feel, the acrylic paint used must be thick and not overly diluted with water.

But thin acrylic artwork also has its benefits - if you are looking to develop a painting that mimics water colours you can thin the paint by adding a third part water to every whole part of paint. Other than water, there are additional additives that can be added to the paint to make it thinner or thicker.

Additives can also be used to increase the paints transparency and reduce the speed of drying. The need to reduce speed is because acrylic paint dries relatively fast once applied. Depending on the thickness and additives used, the paint may take from just a few minutes to a maximum of a day to dry - this is a short time when compared to oil based paints which can take up to a week to completely dry.

The acrylic art used on canvas surface dries in the shortest time making it suitable for artists who prefer to do their work quickly. This quality however can also be a downside because it is difficult to blend different colours on the canvas since the first colour will already have started drying by the time the next colour is applied.

In addition, the paint binds well to a wide range of surfaces. This versatility makes it possible to have acrylic art work not just on canvas but also on glass surfaces as well as ceramic items such as pots. There is a special type of acrylic supplies that can be used on clothes.

Certain types of acrylic paint can be used to paint the outside of the home. The type of acrylic for exteriors depends on the nature of the wall surface - for instance, the acrylic paint you use on a wooden surface will be different from the one you use on a concrete one.

Acrylic work art can be preserved for a long time due to its ability to resist the elements (especially water) once it dries. This compares well with other paints such as oil paints which can start to wrinkle or turn yellow as the painting ages and is oxidized.

If you are a paint work beginner considering venturing into acrylic art work, start with simple paintings to help you practice the painting techniques required when using acrylic paint. As you master the texture of different types of acrylic paints, you can move on to more elaborate pieces.

Pay Per Performance, the Newest Path to Online Marketing

Pay per Performance, the newest Path to Online Marketing

Advertising initially used to be a hit or miss game. You would place your ads and wait for results. If new customers didn't come through the door, you had little choice but to revise your ads and try again until you got it right.

This started creating a problem for companies both large and small, who couldn't invest a lot of money before sales started coming in.

Now, the new pick of "Pay-Per-Performance" advertising model gives you instantaneous results. Instead of paying to place your ad, you pay for each lead your ad produces.

You can adjust your ad, your media, and your method until prospects start to roll in. Only when you get results do you start paying small fees per lead obtained.

One of the quickest ways to pull lots of prospects to your web site is to get listed prominently in search engines. Unfortunately, with over one billion sites catalogued, your URL can get lost in the crowd.

Pay-Per-Performance can be of three kinds, namely -

Search Engine Advertising Pay-Per-Performance search engines like Google, Yahoo give you a way around this problem. They list your site high for a fee. You can pay as little as a penny a click for each prospect the engine sends to your site. The pricing is simple, "If no one clicks on your link, you don't pay".

The up side to these engines is you can adjust your listing until it works without going into debt. You can also list dozens, even hundreds of keywords that will bring up your link.

The big disadvantage to Pay-Per-Performance search engines is many keywords get very little response. Common keywords that draw lots of prospects are probably well known to other businesses in your industry. With everyone vying for the same keywords, the prices can be bid up to several thousand's per click.

Banner Advertising Pay-Per-Performance banner advertising is also popular. With banner response trending lower in recent years, businesses are looking for ways around CPM (Cost per Mile) banner purchases that gets higher results.

This strategy works well when you develop a product and you need your target audience to click and can even increase responses by centring your banner on a graphic that helps you make your unique selling point.

Email Advertising The newest innovation in Pay-Per-Performance digital marketing is the email which may well be the best idea yet, wherein prospects enter their email address to receive information on your business. You pay only for unique confirmed email sign-ups.

The point is to build your own opt-in email list. You own the list and can use it indefinitely to email updates, send out new offers, and distribute information to your prospects and customers. Rather than a one-shot ad campaign, you can continue to work your list for weeks, months, even years getting the rich results repetition provides. You reach prospects in a way people notice and respond to.

By using the big three kinds of Pay-Per-Performance advertising -- search engines, banners, and email - you stretch your ad budget with guaranteed results. You also have the ability to analyze hard statistics that render your results crystal clear.

Most Importantly, Pay-Per-Performance digital marketing lets you focus your marketing plan on getting results rather than just increasing awareness. Not only do people learn your company/brand name, you also get the guaranteed result of an interested prospect seeing your full offer either at your site or in an email.

Tackling Funding for Foreign Students in the US

Studying in the US is a very expensive undertaking. The cost of living in the US is astronomical compared to many of the nations that foreign students hail from. You'll also find that you don't have access to the same resources that US students enjoy and that the resources you do have access to will be hotly contented for.

In the US, students have access to work-study programs, grants for disadvantaged students and many other programs. You won't have access to these as a foreign student. Your acceptance at the university, of course, will require that you provide evidence that you can pay for your studies and your expenses. This means that you'll need some source of outside funding, provided that your parents cannot afford to pay for your education themselves.

In some cases, the university will have jobs for international students. This can be a good source of funding to help you support your living costs, such as food, rent and so forth. These programs allow for a limited work schedule-only 20 hours per week-and they'll pay minimum wage. In the US, that means the wage will be around $7 US per hour. This isn't much money at all, but it's enough to pay for food, clothes and supplies if you live on campus. Off campus living on this money may be a stretch.

For most international students, the best places to get funding are scholarships, fellowships and grants. There are international foundations-the Soros Foundations Network, for example-that offer these programs. You can search an online database of them at the International Education Financial Aid Foundation website. Look for scholarships that fit you and your accomplishments.

Your university will require documentation of your funding sources before they'll issue you an I-20. You'll have to have a guarantee letter endorsed by a bank and you'll have to provide contact information for all your sources of funding. This goes along with your application to the school.

When you're at the university, keep an eye out for work in the various academic departments. In some cases, some of the skills you have may prove useful to the university. You may speak a very uncommon language, for instance, that a department needs help teaching. You may also be able to get work off-campus, but this can be time consuming and detract from your studies.

Fantasy Football 2010 Rankings With Auction Values and Humor

The following rankings are based on a fantasy football player's year to end season value. If a draft or auction were to occur today this is the rank and value we place on the players based on their past performance and predicted future production. The basis for the valuations is a 10 team league starting 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 TE 1 K 1 Defense with a 50% yardage and 50% TD scoring system with no points awarded for receptions. The rankings are updated every Tuesday morning, allowing players to value their teams, analyze player values for trades and plan future moves to get the most return out of your Fantasy Football players.

RANK PLAYER DESCRIPTION AUCTION $

1 Chris Johnson Titans, RB

Faster than a speeding Usain Bolt, more powerful than a locomotive, able to jump tall lineman on a 4th down, it's a Falcon it's a Jet, it's Chris Johnson. $44

2 Adrian Peterson Vikings, RB

Despite having some erratic games and fumbling issues, if anyone's going to have a record setting year in '10, it feels like it could be AP. $40

3 Maurice Jones-Drew Jaguars, RB

2009 stats feel like it could be his ceiling, even so, no complaints.....offense remains stable and a repeat performance very likely. $35

4 Ray Rice Ravens, RB

His weekly production is as reliable as Rush Limbaugh's 4th donut of the day. $34

5 Micheal Turner Falcons, RB

The Burner......if in the '08 season he was fueled by petroleum products......he apparently switched to "easy bake oven" technology '09.....he'll get it back on track in '10. $30

6 Frank Gore 49ers, RB

The forecast calls for high weekly averages with spotty nagging injuries all season. $27

7 Steven Jackson Rams, RB

This much potential hasn't been squandered since Matt Damon turned down Famke Jannsen in Rounders. $25

8 Andre Johnson Texans, WR

2009 receiving yards leader by over 200 yds. Potential for even more TD's, but his performance is tied to Schuab staying healthy. $24

9 Larry Fitzgerald Cardinals, WR

If Warner retires, the Cardinals WR's are going to be like Rage Against the Machine trying to go on without Zach de la Rocha. $23

10 Cedric Benson Bears, RB

The question is....does his deal with the devil extend into the 2010 season? Or does he go back to the Cedric we know and hate? $22

11 Ryan Grant Packers, RB

Not the sexiest RB in terms of flash, but he does his job well......oddly the exact opposite can be said of Megan Fox. $21

12 Jamaal Charles Chiefs, RB

The Chiefs miserable team is not doing him any favors, but he is the kind of guy that is going to find a way to get his. $21

13 DeAngelo Williams Panthers,RB

The perks at a time share pitch are all fun and games, but make sure you know what the Panthers are selling before you buy...basically, a full split of two great backs. $21

14 Vincent Jackson Chargers, WR

Is to San Diego WR's what MadMen is to AMC.....both have made something completely irrelevant worth watching now. $20

15 Rashard Mendenhall Steelers,RB

Although we don't expect him to be unbelievable in '10; being the lead RB in PIT guarantee's a certain level of scoring. $19

16 Reggie Wayne Colts, WR

Like Charlize Theron, were not sure what we'll get out of Reggie next; the hottie in The Italian Job or the psycho in Monster that murders your fantasy season. He killed fantasy owners down the stretch of '09. $19

17 Aaron Rodgers Packers,QB

If his offensive line continues to give him the sandlot approved 5 banana count again next year like they did the second half of '09, we expect him to be the top rated fantasy QB again. $19

18 Drew Brees Saints, QB

In each of the past 4 years he's put up a minimum of 4,300 yds and 26 tds. Not too bad of numbers to build a fantasy team around. $19

19 DeSean Jackson Eagles, WR

Despite the fact that is was a turbulent ride with big swings in production....he had the highest average pts/game among Fantasy WR's last year. $19

20 Brandon Marshall Broncos, WR

It seems like every year leading up to Fantasy Drafts/Auctions, there are a lot of questions and reasons not to go after #15...for now we remain very optimistic on his '10 season. $19

21 Peyton Manning Colts, QB

Is he pimping any insurance companies on TV yet? If not he should, because when he's your FF QB, you always feel like your in good hands. $18

22 Miles Austin Cowboys, WR

We found out that his 200 yd game was not a one hit wonder last year....now we're curious if his '09 season was....if it's not, look for Blind Melon, The Proclaimers, Chumbawumba and Hanson to be knocking on his door for advice. $18

23 Randy Moss Patriots, WR

Don't get me wrong, its not that we don't like Moss' '09 numbers, its just we're kind of left with a bad taste in our mouths with how he went out in his last few games. $18

24 Thomas Jones Jets, RB

If you seek flashy highlight reel TD replays, go elsewhere, but if you like reliable production, you've come to the right place...assuming Father Time doesn't finally take him down. $17

25 Ronnie Brown Miami, RB

He's still young and we love him when healthy, but how many times can he bounce back from injury and be his old self. $17

26 Calvin Johnson Lions, WR

Looking more like a 'second tier' transforming action figure of the 80's......Gobot in disguise! $15

27 Beanie Wells Cardinals, RB

The trend at the end of 2009 season was Wells finally started getting the bulk of the carries over Hightower. If that continues into 2010, Wells will post solid numbers. $15

28 Knowshon Moreno Broncos, RB

With just under 1000 yds rushing and 9 total td's in 2009, he didn't exactly blow us away, but it wasn't a disaster either. Entering his second year he'll be counted on more and should deliver. $14

29 Anquan Boldin Cardinals, WR

If it's not too late, someone call Jeff Probst, Boldin would absolutely destroy the competition in an "injury bug" challenge on Survivor. $14

30 Joesph Addai Colts, RB

Addai's only 26...apparently he, Danny Almonte and Greg Oden all get their fake id's from the same place. $13

31 Kevin Smith Lions, RB

If you can talk yourself into a Detroit Lions RB not named Barry Sanders, then by all means. $12

32 Pierre Thomas Saints, RB

He plays Suzanne Summers in the Saints aggravating Three's Company sitcom. He is the hottest by far, yet Mike Bell in the role of the butch brunette gets far too much screen time $12

33 Tom Brady Patriots, QB

Like DeNiro/Pacino in Godfather II & Heat...Brady/Moss had some incredible highs, lets hope 2010 doesn't turn into a collect the paycheck year and pump out a 'Righteous Kill' type season. $12

34 Sidney Rice Vikings, WR

He'd still be good, but if Favre retires, we're not as bullish on Rice with T Jack or Gus throwing to him. $10

35 Greg Jennings Packers, WR

His reversal of fortune last season rivals only that of an ameteur competitive eater; one minute focused and poised for a Coney Island Championship, the next he's got semi-digested wet hot dogs & buns all over his shoes. $10

36 Roddy White Falcons, WR

Seriously, Mr. White....Mr. Blonde wants to know, "are you going to bark all day little doggie, or are you gonna bite?" $10

37 Steve Smith Carolina, WR

He's still near the front of the plane, it just feels like he's moved from first class to businees class after last year. $10

38 Matt Schaub Texans, QB

The under appreciated girl in high school who you knew was hot and now you're too late to the party. $9

39 Dallas Clark Colts, TE

Dallas International Airport is the nation's 3rd busiest, Dallas Clark is our #1 ranked TE. Suck it airport. $9

40 Antonio Gates Chargers, TE

No signs of SD going back to a run heavy offense with the aging LT-Style Electric Slider (he don't like that call) $9

41 Vernon Davis 49ers, TE

Has all the physical gifts to be in the movie Avatar, he just couldn't learn how to speak Na'Vi. $8

42 Chad Ochocinco Bengals, WR

He's never been a TD machine; it was always the consistent big yards & receptions that made him special, but with declining numbers in those areas, he starts to look more ordinary. $7

43 Phillip Rivers Chargers,QB

Trending well; since 2007 he's increased Yardage and TD totals while reducing INT's every year. $7

44 Owen Daniels Texans, TE

This ranking assumes a full recovery and return to 2009 form, when he was a top TE. $7

45 Matt Forte Bears, RB

The teen equivalent of going from Prom King to Chess Club in one year. High School can be so cruel. $7

46 Jonathon Stewart Panthers, RB

Would love him if he was the workhorse back in this offense, but might have to wait a little while longer for that scenario to play out. $7

47 Marques Colston Saints, WR

That's Marcus with a "Q". Oh, of course it is Mrs. Colston, what a lovely child. $6

48 Steve Smith Giants, WR

A great #2 Fantasy WR that will give you week in week out receptions and yardage. $6

49 Santonio Holmes Steelers, WR

If Santonio Holmes career parallels Larry Holmes career we believe next season could be the Gerry Cooney fight where Holmes really finds his stride. $6

50 Tony Romo Cowboys, QB

Tony Romo does a little too much peacocking to be a true Cowboy. He fell flat in the final game. He has been a bit streaky but with Austin, Witten and Jones their offense looks to be dangerous. $6

Medical Administrative Assistant Schools In the United States - 5 Things You Must Know

To be frank, there is no black and white requirement given by the employers that medical administrative assistants must be graduates from the colleges or universities. However, the job market is realistic. Most of the employers in the medical field seek for qualified and skilled candidates to fill up the vacant posts. If you have great interest in this particular job, you are advised to go through the points stated below.

• If you are not a diploma holder, you still can apply for this type of job but the chances of being hired may be lower. This is because most of the employers do not want to invest their money in providing training for employees who do not have working experience at all. When the economy is uncertain, it is indeed hard for the small organizations to train the new comers exclusively. Due to this reason, if you have intention to join medical field, it is indeed a must for you to obtain at least a diploma in medical administrative assisting.

• In order to become certified personnel, you are required to earn either a diploma or an associate's degree from an accredited vocational school, college or university in United States. You can choose to study online or offline based on your needs.

• Nowadays, when you want to further your study, you need to make sure that the certification you obtain after you graduate is issued by the accredited institution. You are reminded to check the background of the institution carefully. Make sure that it is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.

• After you have searched the background of the schools and colleges, you are reminded to find out more detailed information about the coursework and training. Basically, you are required to learn about the administration of medications, diagnostic procedures, medical terminology and pharmacology, medical software applications, medical office administration and insurance, etc. Currently, most of the accredited programs come with internship. The main purpose of internship is to provide opportunity to the students to gain hands-on working experience in the real scenarios.

• Currently, some reputable schools such as Bryant & Stratton College, Kaplan University, Boise State University, Keiser University, Everest's Colleges and Institutes and Universities are offering diploma and associate's degree to their students. The fees charged by these schools are reasonable.

Last but not the least, do not enroll yourself to a school which is not accredited. You will waste your money and time doing nothing.

PC Games - 24 Hours

Long before the TV show "24" there was an early PC game, circa 1987, called "24 Hours". The game was made similar to "San Francisco Earthquake - 1906" in that is was programmed in BASIC and Assembler and was designed for the Radio Shack TRS 80. Like Earthquake, it was a text based game with no graphics at all. Many felt that it was simply a cheap knock off. But the game was not without its interesting points.

The start of the game was very similar to Earthquake. A man awakes to find out that his wife has been kidnapped and frantically begins his search, having been informed that if he doesn't bring the ransom in 24 hours, she'll be killed. The clock then starts ticking. The game is actually played in real time. Every second you play, another second in game time goes by. So you literally have to finish this game in 24 hours. And thus, the chase begins, focusing mainly on modes of transportation, of which there are plenty.

The guy starts out hopping in his car and driving all around town looking for clues. He stops at diners, liquor stores and magazine stands talking to people along the way. He finds some items along the way and buys others. Each item leads him to a new clue.

The early portion of the game covers a large area of the city itself and eats up about 4 of the 24 hours. It was apparent that the game was designed so that each section took up 4 hours, since there are 6 sections in the game.

The second section begins when the guy finds his way to the train station. Here, he has to leave his car and hop on a train. On the train he meets a number of passengers who also give him some clues. Ultimately, these clues lead him off the train at a certain stop. If he doesn't get off, it's okay as the train just goes back and forth like a subway. Eventually he'll find the right stop. This also takes about 4 hours.

After getting off the train the next section is all on foot. The area covered will eventually lead you to an airport where you rent a private plane. The clues found that ultimately lead you to this conclusion, of having to board of plane, are rather convoluted. But if you think outside the box, you'll figure them out. In the meantime, 4 more hours have gone by and you are now 12 hours into the game and halfway to either finding the guys wife or watching her die.

The plane trip takes you to a field. The field itself is a huge maze that leads to a cave. Finding the cave itself is very hard as the maze is huge. This part of the game takes another 4 hours to get through the maze, which is done on foot. We are now about 16 hours through the game.

Once in the cave you find some tracks. It appears the cave is some kind of underground railroad. Ultimately you find a small one passenger train that you have to figure out how to run yourself. The tracks in the cave seem to go all over the place. In a sense, you are in another maze. This takes another 4 hours to get through to the end where you find your wife.

Here is where it gets interesting. Your wife is handcuffed to something in the cave. The cuffs don't have a key. Instead they have a combination lock. In the meantime, there is a bomb in the cave set to go off in 4 hours. There is also a complex code box on the bomb. Enter in the right code and the bomb will be defused. Enter the wrong code and it blows up. You have to decide. Do you defuse the bomb or try to figure out the combination for the handcuffs and get your wife out?

You better hope you have more than 4 hours when you get to this section of the game because either option you choose is going to be close to impossible to solve. This is the most frustrating part of the game. The end is ridiculously hard.

Whoever made this game must have loved torturing people because this game is one of the most frustrating things you will ever play.

But oh what a load of fun it is. Even without the graphics.

Asbestos and Cancer- Exposure of Your Child at Your Home

Issues on asbestos are perhaps one of the most top rated in both the medical communities and the legal communities. As you may have noticed in the past couple of years, there have been a great sprouting of cases against companies who allow the usage of asbestos in any forms. However, do you know that your house could also be a good source of asbestos?

No wonder, there are lots of children, who are definitely not exposed in asbestos in industrial areas where it is frequently used but are still at high risk to asbestos cancer and mesothelioma. Many experts believe that even the homes could be said as culprit to the various diseases directly caused or triggered by this industrial element. But of course, it would take a specific amount of asbestos ingested or inhaled before a person shows symptoms of any asbestos-related diseases.

The mere presence of asbestos in the home is perceived to be a minimal problem and is therefore not considered very hazardous. But once the materials made of or has the material asbestos becomes damaged overtime, that's when real problems occur since a deteriorated asbestos material could possibly release asbestos fibers which are the main perpetrator of diseases relating to asbestos. In this case, the best advice is to leave the material untouched or undisturbed. This would prevent the exposure of your home and children from asbestos fibers.

Asbestos fiber is known to cause two types of cancer- mesothelioma and asbestosis. The former shows symptoms of cancer on the abdominal cavity and lining of the lungs, while the latter has the main symptom of scars in the lungs.

If there are high amounts of asbestos in your home, it is likely that exposure would cause adverse effects on the health of your child. This risk increases over a period of time when a specific degree of exposure is observed. In fact, the probability that your child will develop lung cancer with asbestos is much higher than that of exposure from cigarette smoke. To make matters worse, signs disease development would only occur after 20 to 30 years when the disease is aggravated enough to eliminate the possibilities of healing.

If your home does not contain large doses of asbestos fiber though, even long period of exposure would mean nothing against your health. Nonetheless, it is still better for you to protect your child from the risk of developing cancer.

So if you think your home contains asbestos material, don't make any moves yet. It is best to leave these materials alone or the fibers would spread inside your house. Sawing, scraping and any types of abrasive treatments on materials that contain asbestos would likely promote the spread of the fiber.

If the asbestos material remains untouched, there is no actual risk of your child, or you, of developing cancer.

Check the materials in your house that probably contain asbestos. In any case like this, you need to protect the material from any sort of damage or disturbance. If you have observed any signs of damage on the material containing asbestos, it is best that you limit the access to the particular part of the house where the damage is found because it is likely that there are higher exposure risks in places like this.

If the material is detachable like stove-top pads and board covers, it is best to discard these items and purchase products that make use of alternative materials. If, however, you have discovered that there are parts of your home where damages on the asbestos materials are severe or you need to get these materials off your house due to replacement, it is best to let professionals handle the work and stay as far away from the affected site as possible for as long as the work is ongoing.

In case you are truly sure that your house has asbestos materials used in its construction, it is advisable that you call an expert and have it observed.

There is no known cure yet for asbestos exposure this is why it is very crucial that you protect your child from these fibrous materials at a very early stage through assuring that your home is free of fibrous asbestos.

A Review Of "The Language Instinct"

It is important to note that all the quotes in the following article are from a book by Steven Pinker "on the language instinct" and should be credited as such and for any demerits mistakes, misrepresentations or misquotes the full responsibility is mine.

"Finally since language is the product of a well engineered biological instinct, we shall see that it is not the nutty barrel of monkeys that entertainer-columnists make it out to be." I looked at languages and communications between human beings and it rather seemed that language emerged out of the need to give and take to and from the other. As the number of the items and the number of the individuals that needed to take and give increases and the paths the items to be given and taken increases, there arose the need to sophisticate the language in manners and ways to transverse the same distance and through the same intricate paths.

As evolutionarily as evolution itself at each stage and at every encounter consciously and rationally coined and agreed on. As such it seems rather a conscious act than it is a biological instinct. The ability to generate a sound of frequencies, pitches, wavelengths and amplitudes of the known ranges, sings and gestures and the need to communicate may be smart biological engineering, but language itself is a conscious effort of the use of these capabilities.

"The conception of language as a kind of instinct was first articulated in 1871 by Darwin himself. In THE DESCENT OF MAN he had to contend with language because of its confinement to humans seemed to present a challenge to his theory." It is rather the reference to the confinement of language to humans that throw me a little off balance and made me look at the issue from a different angle. It would be rather a bit naive it seems that other animals do not communicate African killer bees when touched spreading the new and run to kill with hurray specific to a war cry and dispatch in a kamikaze army of fighters. Or the Hyenas cry of summons for a mill upon finding a Caracas of a kill. Or the love songs of different birds and insects and flies, have no language may be a little far fetched. May be rudimentary yet language enough with its own rules and specificity of usage as grammar is to us to communicate an event, a need from and a need to dependent on the level of social and mental development relative to that of ours (humans).

"As no child has an instinctive tendency to brew, bake or write. More over no philologist now supposes that any language has been deliberately invented" It is important to bear in mind that our eyes may have been exposed to light days after we were born at about seven days, but were we exposed to sound after or before we were born? Could we have been hearing sound and particularly conversations of our mothers and any and every one that she had conversed with after our ears and all our bodily audio mechanism were formed? Is it possible that our ears got exposed to audio sound and audio conversation ahead of videos communication? We might have been susceptible to audio sound than we are of visible light even while we were in our mother's wombs. Having said that would it be then possible that children are more inclined to verbalize more efficiently than may show the "instinctive" tendency to cook or bake and brew, for they are visually acquired learning processes and skills.

Lastly what we rule out as instinctive may not be as instinctive as we believe it to be. It was a day after I had jotted down this note that I met a PhD. from Ghana on the bus home from an outing who teaches English in one of the US high schools and ask him how he was able to teach as a foreigner with such a heavy wall cracking accent children their own native language, The answer was not so complicated to him as it sounded to me. He simply told me it is the rules of the language that I teach, without the rules they might communicate, but they might as well communicate with a sign which would have been inept to explain and recognize the cultural, social, economic and technical sophistication of the past, present and the future. The implications are clear that I need no further explanations. Every trained body tends to execute what he or she is trained to do as instinctively as instinctive response can be, while others that are not so trained will have to think and think twice before acting on the same issue, act, or an activity.

Are instinctive responses that need no rationalization because their truth has been established in the mind of the actor that rationalizing would be unimportant and the response is clear and uncompromisingly predetermined while a conscious responses is pretty dynamic, flexible and variable dependent? A conscious act that is repeated and repeated over many a times becomes an act that is acted on without being thought about as though it is ingrained in the genes of the actor. After all what is ingrained in our genes are repetitious resistive and adaptive acts forced upon them, you and us by the needs and demands of our surrounding or environment.

When do we begin to react and be stimulated by sound? Would that have something to do for children's instinctive tendency to "deliberately create language?" Verbalize prior to visualize.

"Therefore a language cannot be a repertoire of responses: the brain must contain a recipe of program that can build an unlimited set of sentences out of a finite list of words." If I may say that seems suggestive that language is learned and gradually developed out of the needs to and from than it is a deliberate invention devoid of need. While deliberate invention predates need and use, language does not seem to predate use and need but to fulfill it. There does not seem that there is a chicken and egg argument here, but an A to B straight-line relationship.

"And Chomsky's arguments about the nature of the language faculty are based on technical analysis of word and sentence structure, often couched in abstruse formalisms." Language is a result of a need to give and take to the other, self, and from as such it is a result of a constant negotiation and agreement which has to be kept and observed, and to that end it has to be told and retold, read and re-read to generations. It is to me this repetitious propagation of the agreements reached and the negotiations conducted that what Chomsky referred to as abstruse formalist couching. If that is he wouldn't have been far from the truth I see in my untrained layman's views.

"The great majority of sentences were grammatical, especially in working class speech, with higher percentage of grammatical sentences in working-class speech. The higher percentage of ungrammatical sentences was found in the proceedings of learned academic conferences." The recognition of the existence of a language difference between those that are learned and not may be in order considering the sentences made about Plato walking Among Macedonian herdsmen as far as language is concerned. "There are Stone Age societies, but there is no such thing as Stone Age language. When it comes to linguistic form, Plato walks with the Macedonian swineherd, Confucius with the headhunter savages of Assam."

Thou it is clear from the outset that language carries a badge of class distinction the psychology that contributed to the grammatical discrepancy between the workingman and the academic will not pass without grabbing a due attention and beg for an explanation. Technicality and logicality, adherence and experiment, instinct and rational, seem to be in conflict at or at least at odds here than it is enlightenment and ignorance or wealth and poverty that are on opposing sides of the presumed or real issue. The working man is engaged in a rigorous repetitive work in his day-to-day activity, for him mistakes are costly that could throw him in to the darkness that he is not prepared to deal with, his sphere and peripheral vision may be is limited to the known and long been established, contrary to the academic who is in constant search and who is an adventurer in the wilderness of the unknown in search of answers and new findings, whose sphere is not limited to what is known and established, and is often in constant touch with new and the unknown and yet to be established. He is not more technical, but logical, and grammar is not logical than it is technical, it is by enlarge to be learned than it is to be deduced or rationalized. Is it any wonder then that our work and the environment we find ourselves in manifests itself in many ways including in our grammatical usage?

"Necessity being the mother of invention, language could have been invented by resourceful people a number of times long ago; ----- Universal grammar would simply reflect the Universal limitations on human information processing. All languages words for "water" and "foot" because all people need to refer to water and feet. No language has word a million syllables long for no person would have the time to say it. It is the word and the essence of invention of a language that is of importance and may be worth the energy and discussion time here. It is rather a similar and like the ongoing discussion between evolution and creation, natural language seems to evolve over time in response to the human development and the division of labor that the complexity and enormity of human development brought about. It might have been helped and enhanced by the deep need to complain, but complaints would have done much in a society devoid of division of labor, in which case the complainer and the complaint addressee would be the same.

Division of labor did not only help develop language it indeed helped develop languages with in languages, sub cultures within cultures, like the technical terminologies of the medical doctor to the engineer, the pharmacist to the lawyer and other variances the convergence of languages in divergence of technical languages as specializations continue to divide and subdivide disciplines in to sub-disciplines in direct proportion to our growth in number. The point here is to note that as our journey forward in the universe in our forward developmental path the path seems to narrow like a light that projects forward and in for the depth we gain we give in width. Unlike the inventions language need coinage and convention and agreement, often inventions are real objective existences that need no conventional agreement but introduction of its reality and convincing of its reality, its naming may be conventional, but its reality an alterable fact that makes the naming a language and the creation an invention. I see a clear dichotomy between the two. As much as language as a creation of human ingenuity,it evolved over time that enables it to shape and reshape instantaneously in response to dynamic needs of society and propagate generating acceptance.

"The crux of the argument is that complex language is universal, because children actually invent it, generation after generation -not because they are taught, not because they are generally smart, not because it is useful to them, just because they can't help it." If there is anything at all they cannot help is, that they have to express all and everything, any every new idea and new relation that comes about in their time as it feels, sounds and looks relative to their time. As they progress forward in time they are often and always are expected to come head on with ever emerging new social relationships,It is more than anything the emergence of new reality and the need to express and exchange this new reality that literally engenders the rejuvenation of language. If there is anything innate here is the universal human urge to express and exchange any and every new thing, both for the purposes of self-fulfillment and recognition through the thrilling medium of language.

"Bickerton notes that if the grammar of Creole is largely the product of the minds of children, unadulterated by complex language input from their parents, it should provide a particularly clear window on the innate grammatical machinery of the brain." One thing that shouts out for a notice seems that linguistic complexity arises out of the need to express complex relationships and complex realities, yet deep in the human psyche rests the effort to simplify the complex and economize time and energy that seems the reason for any language not having a million syllable word as described earlier. "Extraordinary acts of creation by children do not require the extra ordinary circumstances of deafness or plantation babbles the same kind of linguistic genius is involved every time a child learns his or her mother tongue." I wondered why it is often "Mom" or "Dad", "Ma" or "Pa" that are the first words that a child learns and are often the most common of any word in any human language and may be more. It is more than likely it is the result of the first encounter, interaction and first exchanges with unparalleled linearity and simplicity. The child's world of learning starts with such simplicity and linearity that the learning effort seems and may be is simpler, but as the child grows and enters in to a complex relationships and the need for him/her and from him/her to express and understand more complex scenarios arise and grow, he/she would have already grown out of his/her childhood that the attributes will no more hold true for him/her, that I feel there may be an over emphasis in the ability to learn and under emphasis in the complexity of what is being learned. It is as though our ability to learn has never gotten up to speed with our relationships and exposure that needed cognition, rationalization, understanding, committal to memory and expression. We grow but we do not seem to grow faster or nearly as fast as the our individual universe we find ourselves in and as we age the enormity of the universe that encompass us seems to grow exponentially that our progress pales in comparison.

"By the age of three and half or earlier children use the -s agreement suffix in more than ninety percent of the sentences that require it, and virtually never use it in the sentences that forbid it. This mastery is part of their grammar explosion, a period of several months in the third year of life during which children suddenly begin to speak in fluent, sentences, respecting most of the fine points of their community's spoken language. For example, a pre-schooled with a pseudonym Sarah, whose parents had only a high school education can be seen obeying the English agreement rule unless though it is in complex sentences like.Just as interestingly, Sarah could not have been imitating her parents, memorizing verbs with -s' pre-attached. Sarah sometimes uttered word forms she could not possibly have heard it from her parents." Like all machines it is fundamentally important to be reminded and not forget the fact that the human body is an input-process-output machine, though a biological machine, and among parts of the human body the brain as well is vividly adherent to this truth. The brain may be a thinking, cognitive and re-cognitive organ, yet could only act on what is fed in to it through the five sense organs and more if there are any. This truth is also asserted by the mere fact that Sarah did not speak in any other languages that are not within the environmental constraints of hers, but her community's language. It might have been farfetched that Sarah could not have mimicked anyone else, but here parents during her three and half years of life and nine months prior as though she and her parents lived in total seclusion. It is rather clear that Little Sarah has always been immersed in a sea of words, phrases and sentences right from the moment of her inception to the day she spoke that first word and the rest of her grammatical sentences of her last at the dawn her life in the far future. Often adherence and respect for the law entails through formal and informal ways learning and knowing the law like every lay man like myself who had not been to Harvard or Yale law school, but to the greatest university of all, living in legal environment and among law abiding people. It seems to me respect for the law and living by it presupposes knowledge of the law. Little Sara might have not received formal training of the grammatical rules, but have lived it however brief to know what it is like and how it ought to be respected. If there is any difference between someone who speaks the language within the grammatically acceptable range without having to receive a formal training is the length of exposure to the language. The conclusion that she could not have been imitating her parents or the speakers of the community is as puzzling to me as to why she did not speak in tongue, and if she did we wouldn't have called it a speech, or grammatical any way. It is a puzzle like Langston Hues church experience.

"She must, then, have created these forms herself, using an unconscious version of the English agreement rule. The very concept of imitation is suspect to begin with (if children are general imitators, why don't they imitate their parents' habit of sitting quietly in airplanes?). There are laws that are learned and others that are followed as a course of nature for they are hard written in to our body. Some that are mimicked and others that are rationalized and followed, never mind, that their parents were not as hyper as they are when they were at the age, may be they are not mimicking the current behavior of their parents, but they could be mimicking their parent's whole life and they are just beginning. As they are hyper now as their parents were then, they would definitely calm and act if not exactly as them but as close when they get to their present parents age. As to the hyper activity of the children now there are other biological factors at work more than mimicking and not of their parents that makes them clearly and distinctively defining of their age, like stimulating growth, burning energy, availability of space, flexibility of body etc. As much as children are like their parents I admit they are not photocopies of their parents nor do I say they are parrot like mimickers, but learners and learning is not as we all agree mimicking. It has a growth and developmental factor in it. They might be slightly or completely differently than their parents, yet, I see no doubt that their basis remain learning and learning from their parents and most of all from their environment, whether or not, they are consciously thought by their parents, which will be to their advantage tremendously believe if they are, they have proved over and again that they will learn from their environment no matter what.

Broca's aphasia syndrome a handicap rather that was described non-handicap and given credit in ways where credit is not due seemed to me sympathy may be no less than an insult to the injury that those patients suffer from. It is a Mr. Ford who had suffered a stroke the subject of the study and described as "Gardner notes" He was alert, attentive, and fully aware of what he was and why he was there. Intellectual functions not closely tied to language, such as knowledge of right and left, ability to draw with left (unpracticed) hand, to calculate, read maps, set clocks make construction or carry out commands, were all preserved. His intelligence quotient in none verbal areas was in the high average range. "Indeed, the dialog shows that Mr. Ford, like many Broca's aphasics, showed an acute understanding of his handicap." (XII) There are indeed a number of intellectual handicaps that Mr. Ford and his Broca's aphasic collogues suffer from as described, from analytical skills to verbal communication impairments, yet Mr. Ford and his likes are as is stated acquire and posses a great deal of raw empirical data besides being able to in ways and manners that are similar to instinctive responses that may not tax greatly on their analytical mind.

How is it then this acquisition of raw empirical data and instinctive responses did not tax on their intelligence quotient? Or is it even possible to conceive intellect without analytical mind devoid of coherent verbalization or speech? If so how different could we be from the rest of our down line relatives? Or perhaps incoherence does not undermine the very essence of integrity, viability and predictability, which are attributes of intelligence as opposed to amorphous and randomness. It is rather eye catching to read the comments about the grammatical fluency of the children with William's syndrome and not think about the causes of our diversity as humans and living species. It is rather in our deficiencies as much as our special gifts that our diversity rests its cause. I find it hard that grammatical fluency not attributed to intellectual depth and width than simple construction of very common words in a repetitive common everyday acts."Your parents need not bathe you in language withal to function in society, the skills to keep house and home together or a particularly firm grip on reality. Indeed you can posses all these advantages and still not be a competent language user, if you lack just the right genes or the right bit s of brain. (XIII)"

It is the assertion that not all of us lack those right genes or in their right combination for some of the needed skills and abilities, but some few classified as handicapped that do underscores the fact that we all are not equally proficient in all fields for the same reason. While the severity of our deficiency puts us in categories under average, average and over average, it seems worth noting the specific and relativistic nature of any and all handicap under consideration. It would be unfair it seems to pass this opportunity without amplifying the fact that in its uneven distribution in the universal space matter and life has in it to compensate where it is missing, that there is not an all out idiot nor an all out smart for a reason and by a cause. For and by reason of dynamism for and by division of labor by diversity for total interdependence so we are un even, evenly gifted and unequal equally talented. XIV"-a concept is unimaginable and therefore nameless; at the end of the second, a concept is nameless and therefore unimaginable. Is thought dependent on words? Do people think literally think in English, Cherokee, Kivunjo, or, by 2050 Newspeak?"

A concept is so named because a reality of interacting material entities and a relationship between and among them is conceived and recognized. The interacting entities and the relationship they establish may not be verbalized or given names yet if conceived and recognized they therefore are represented in space and time in a condition and it seems they are imagined and they are named concepts and concepts are named therefore are imaginable and represented. At the end thinking may seem possible without words but not without representation of some sort or another. Mr. Joe dog often communicates to his master what his intents and needs are by some action and gestures and even sounds and Mr. Joe does likewise, can we here imagine the concept of Dog and man communication? And give it a name or we can't imagine it and can't name it? If anything at all we can only entertain the thought of nonexistence in nonexistence not the existence none existence, thus we cannot imagine what we cannot represent and we cannot represent what we can't imagine. It is rather the need to communicate that will necessitate the naming of the entities and the relationships imagined in an already existing language than the conceptualization and thinking it.

"The insult relies on the fact that a sentence is the smallest thing that can be either true or false: a single word cannot be either. A sentence, then, must express some kind of meaning that does not clearly reside in its nouns and verbs but that embraces the entire combination and turns it into proposition that can be true or false. Take, for example, the optimistic sentence The Red Sox will win the World Series. The word will do not apply to the Red Sox alone, or to the World Series alone or to winning alone.

It applies to a whole concept, The Red Sox winning the World Series. That concept is timeless and therefore truth less". There are two fundamental seeming flows in the statement quoted above. The fact that a single word is either true or false and the parallels timeless to truethlessness are worth some exploratory examinations. To me a word and any word represents a reality that is, was or an assumed and agreed on will be fact. Therefore ,that that was. That is and will be cannot be anything but the truth. Even that that will be remains till such time it is proven otherwise. The fact that The Red Sox's winning of the World Series for one sounds and feels somewhat prop estrous for that concept came to existence only after the inception at most or formation of the Red Sox at least and not only the timeless claim baseless but one end bounded that as it is the equation of timeless to truth less is a denial of the existence of an absolute truth. That that defies the change in time or a change that happens at the speed of change of time, and the ultimate speed at which time changes is at the speed of light.

A change that exceeds the speed of light therefore ceases to exist and cannot be conceptualized. the inner workings of syntax are important for another reason. Grammar offers a clear refutation of the empiricist doctrine that there is nothing in the mind that was not in first in the senses. Traces, cases, X-bars, and the other paraphernalia of syntax are colorless, odorless, and tasteless, but they or something like them, must be a part of our subconscious mental life." It was early in the discussion of that I tried to establish the fact that the human mind is a biological input, process output machine, and the empiricist view seems to conform to that not without a reason, but rather for a profound reason. It would be rather important to acknowledge and recognize all that which was in the senses dowels in the senses for long enough time to be cognized, yet its realty cannot be denied. Our conscious mind recognizes events and happening that last at least 1/10 of a second on the fastest cognitive sense of ours our eye, anything faster than that threshold simply slips our conscious cognitive mind the first time, and may be the second and the third time.

As enough time passes a chunk of the information would have been accumulated in our mind that the source and path seemed to be unknown. It seems it is these pieces of information that are happening at the speeds below and above the normal threshold of our senses cognitive power that we are awash with, which are by our senses and through our senses, in parallel with the empiricism refuted in this article, that are often relegated to the subconscious. Our subconscious mind's life is more than likely a life of instantaneous happenings much faster than our conscious minds' life. Our subconscious mind has to accumulate a number of instantaneous pieces of information before it manifests it as a conscious "objective "reality. The subconscious mind is material reality happening at speeds above and below the threshold of the senses cognitive ability. As sometimes referred to as the Sixth sense, that doesn't see yet sees, that doesn't hear yet hears, that doesn't smell yet smells, that doesn't taste yet tastes and that doesn't feel yet feels in summation it is subconscious yet it is conscious and it is by the senses and through the senses, if it isn't I am afraid there isn't.

"The details of syntax have figured prominently in the history of psychology, because they are case where complexity in the mind is not caused by learning; learning is caused by complexity in the mind. That was real news." In spite of the strong assertion that complexity of the mind preceded learning, I wondered what it would be like to have a complex mind that did not come about by learning and a learning that did not result in a complex mind. To me as a layman learning appeals to me as a process of untangling the naturally entangled, easing what is otherwise hard and difficult to understand, discovering the unknown and simplifying what is otherwise complex. But learning has never been the key to simplicity rather to more complexity. Simplifying complexity does not lead to simplicity but greater complexity of the mind. Thus complexity of the mind stayed somewhat ahead of learning and learning get locked up in a catch up game with its own effect on the mind, and that is why learning was, is, and will be a ceaseless open ended endeavor.

Foster Parenting - Three Important Things You Must Know

There are many children in need of a good foster parent. It is possible that you have heard a radio ad or seen an internet or newspaper ad requesting your consideration for the role of foster parent. You may have heard that there are thousands of children who are in need of a loving home. You may have also heard that you could be compensated for opening your home to these children. These statements are certainly true, but with most things they require more explanation. There are three very important things that you must understand before you give foster parenting serious consideration.

First of all, you must have time to dedicate to the children. Foster children are children who are wards of the state in which they live. This means that the state has jurisdiction over all decisions that are made about that child. A child who is in foster care or out of home placement, as it is sometimes referred to, may have to attend appointments with mental health professionals, speech and language pathologists, and tutors. As a foster parent you would be responsible for making certain that the children in your home make it to these appointments. Many times these services are court ordered and you must have permission before canceling or rescheduling. In addition to this, many foster children have court ordered visitation with their birth parents and you must be available to take the children to their visits, and many times you may be required to monitor the visits.

The second thing that is important to consider before becoming a foster parent, is you must be capable of supporting yourself and your family on the income that you make. Although it is true that foster parents receive a stipend, these funds are for the care and support of the foster children that are placed in the home. These funds are not meant to be the sole financial support of the foster parent. It is expected that foster parents will pay for the majority of the child's needs utilizing the foster care stipend. The amount of the stipend is usually dependent on the age of the child and whether or not the child has special physical or emotional needs.

A third thing to consider is your personal boundaries and personality. This is something that is often overlooked when considering suitability for becoming a foster parent. As an individual or a family, there are many different things that you may gain from fostering and there are some things that you may lose.

Privacy is one very important thing that you could lose. All children in foster care are assigned to at least one social worker. Social workers are required to check on the children regularly. They may also conduct unannounced visits to your home to make certain that the children under your care are being cared for properly. If the idea of having a social worker or any other individual for that matter, come to your home on a regular basis, makes you uncomfortable, then you must understand the reason for that discomfort. It takes a very compassionate, mature, and dedicated individual to make a good foster parent. Knowing who you are and what you are willing to accept is one the most important things that you could ever determine, not just as an effective foster parent but for your life in general.
